STONECROP

Our literary magazine was established in Boise, Idaho, in 2013 under the name Basalt. In 2018, we changed the name to Stonecrop, inspired by the succulent plant that flourishes and endures in this high desert country we call home. Stonecrop is an annual literary magazine staffed, organized, designed, and published by students at the College of Western Idaho. It provides students with hands-on experience in editing, formatting, and publishing, providing them with the skills and knowledge needed to flourish and endure after graduation in their own habitats.

Stonecrop publishes fiction and microfiction, non-fiction essays, poetry, and visual art. Our submission window opens in the fall semester and closes before winter break. A small group of students review submissions in the fall, but the bulk of our reviewing happens during the beginning of our spring semester, late winter and early spring. Our readers carefully review all submissions. We are grateful for the exposure to such an array of literary minds, diverse voices, and creative expression. It is our pleasure to showcase them through Stonecrop.

We want to grow and thrive like the stonecrop, an underestimated little plant that propagates in dark and unexpected places. Please be patient with our staff as we learn and create, and then pass the torch from one graduating class to another. We look forward to your submissions!
