what wickedness does
erika seshadri
this is
what wickedness does:
it grows from the inside
laying blame
through panoramic windows,
tip tap tapping as
rigid fingernails
on cracked glass,
feeding fear
while
shedding lives past
so we sit,
tongues curled with venom
tense behind lips,
words spoken
like
the casual toss
of carrion
to vultures in pits
but,
it doesn’t have to be
like this
Erika Seshadri lives on an animal rescue ranch in Florida with her family. When not caring for tame critters or feral children, she can be found writing.
