Alexey Adonin explores the point of convergence between abstraction and surrealism to create a channel of communication between his inner world and the viewers, not only to share his personal vision but also and especially to invite viewers to elaborate their personal interpretations and narratives, establishing deep involvement both in the emotional aspect and in the intellectual one.

The piece is from my “Beach” sketches. I have always been inspired by my ability to recognize different human states. I like to arrange elements in intricately interwoven patterns as well.

A Very Different Landscape was inspired by the rock formations found in the beautiful California desert where I live. Specifically, the Vasquez Rocks Park area where a lot of Star Trek episodes were filmed . This piece started with the rocks from an old Arizona Highway magazine. I added some small palm fronds too and then inserted very large abstract apples I found in a still life, and these formed the giant apple trees, voila!

The piece Quetzal is a fusion of anatomy, Mesoamerican symbolism and history. Quetzal refers to a rare bird with green, white and red feathers. The zoomorphic technique I used incorporates this and other elements such as two serpent heads going in opposite direction. The incomplete human body fusing with its surroundings shows transformation at a single moment in time. It is here where I invoke the idea of constantly reinventing oneself.

One of a series of pin-up collages, Job’s Wife is meant to reflect the namelessness and eventual deletion of the supporting biblical character. Just as she was with him in his times of plenty, she suffers plague and pestilence alongside Job too. In the end, she is not redeemed; she simply vanishes. Overall, the piece attempts to connect those feelings of being forgotten and unseen. It aims to recognize a femininity that is bursting with life despite its attempted erasure.

The absurdity of this world inspires my art with whimsy, but mostly with its poignancy. Humans struggle to acquire material goods to cushion life’s hardships and mark their status, but at day’s end, it’s the intangibles such as creativity, compassion fidelity, and justice that we hold most dear. When I stumbled upon the makeshift shrine in the summer of 2020, I paused to honor the memory of the unintentional hero, and all the others whose lives are darkly impacted by assumed authority run amok, infidelity to the call of public service; institutions void of compassionate creative problem-solving skills, that ignore the truth that injustice to one is injustice to us all. The shrine serves to mark intangibles, the absurdity of such events, and a legacy, albeit dark, too poignant to forget.

Line and color components pass through massive structures of the object, making intellectual, current, and social contradictions visible in the background. He discusses resonance, the secret key that unlocks these secrets and lost meanings. Everything in the universe, from the smallest and simplest form to the most complex formation, is in an eternal and constant vibration. Karakozak opens the door to meaning with all metaphorical similes and symbols, and to unseen realities at the same time. Every object exists in a rhythm and the objects that resonate with it vibrate both with themselves and with each other. Karakozak wants to be reshaped as the puzzle itself, with an inner and spiritual journey deeper than the rational mind can reach, rather than being a piece of the puzzle.

She embroidered her anxieties into cloth and, in these performances, either wrapped herself in it or unfurled it to the four winds
